Our Story

For us, The Store Room was born through a pure leap of faith of perfect timing in our lives. We met for our first coffee out post Covid restrictions lifting mid 2020. We discussed the vision of opening a beautiful homewares, art, furniture and gift business that stocked only Australian businesses. After three months of daily meetings around Jill’s family dining table, planning, emailing, calling and messaging designers, creators and suppliers The Store Room’s doors opened – 1st October 2020.

Both being country girls – growing up on properties near Longreach (Inky) and Meandarra (Jill) the connection with small country businesses was an enormous factor for us both. Many of our suppliers are very small businesses and design & create from their home office, rural properties, spare bedroom or garden studios/sheds! We are passionate about getting to know our creators, collaborating with them and telling their stories to our customers.

We honestly love working together and with our team, just adore our store – full of stylish pieces often not seen elsewhere and topped with the aromatic smell of Padre coffee and sweet treats!

Keeping the business side of things simple, working hard, communicating, giving excellent customer service and a bucket load of laughter we feel is the key. The Store Room has brought such joy for us and we are so very proud of it.
